SHARJAH: Pakistan Women defeated South Africa Women by 57 runs in their first one day international at Sharjah,
Pakistan Women won the toss and elected to bat first.
The Asian side, batting first, managed to score 216/6 in their allotted 50 overs.
Bismah Maroof fell just one short of a hundred as she was dismissed on 99 from 129 balls whereas Javeria Khan also missed out on her fifty as she was dismissed on 49 runs.
Asmavia Iqbal remained unbeaten at 35 runs from 45 balls whereas Captain Sana Mir scored seven runs.
South African bowler Sune Luus took four wickets whereas Shabnim Ismail also grabbed one wicket.
In reply, the African side could only manage 159 runs on the board in their 50 overs.
Trisha Chetty made 32 runs from 72 balls while Mignon du Preez scored 27 runs for her team.
Lizelle Lee contributed 25 runs with the bat and Dane van Niekerk made 21 runs for her side.
Pakistani bowler Anam Amin took three wickets whereas Sana Mir dismissed two batswomen. Asmavia Iqbal, Nida Dar and Bismah Maroof also shared one wicket each.
Bismah Maroof was named the Player of the Match.
The second game of the three match one day series will be played on Sunday, March 15th at Sharjah.
